Overview
This course aims to develop intermediate classical Arabic language proficiency and analytical skills in the context of Arabic Literature and Islamic texts. Students will develop foundational knowledge and skills in Arabic Grammar through the study of relevant Arabic texts. A communicative approach is also used to develop students proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:
1.
Examine, and infer information from a text in Arabic at the intermediate level, and communicate this information through written and oral formats;
2.
Articulate foundational concepts of Arabic grammar theory;
3.
Analyse and investigate Arabic literature and Islamic texts in light of Arabic grammar;
4.
Analyse the impact of national historical discourses on perceptions of language and the importance of language to preserve culture and identity in the context of Arabic and Indigenous Australian languages.
