Overview
The course aims to provide professional level outcomes and to develop graduates who:
- have a broad and coherent body of knowledge and understanding of the principles and concepts of the information professions informed by knowledge of the professions’ social, economic, and historical contexts, social responsibilities and professional standards.
- are able to articulate and apply to practice wide-ranging, specialised technical, creative and conceptual knowledge relevant to the information professions;
- critically analyse, synthesise and consolidate professional knowledge and apply this knowledge ethically to their professional work;
- apply knowledge, critical thinking and judgment to identify and solve problems and initiate change;
- communicate ideas and knowledge in a clear and coherent way ;
- engage with, and have a commitment to, self-directed and lifelong learning;
- recognise and reflect on social, cultural and ethical issues, and apply local and international perspectives to professional practice with particular reference to Indigenous Australian and other First Nations peoples; and
- have a coherent knowledge of sustainable practice and are able to identify and apply strategies to promote and support sustainability for the information profession.
